Familiar Faces, New Leadership at LCJP!
I am proud to announce the promotion of two of our staff members, Jessica Goldberg and Dana Henderson, who will help lead LCJP to the next frontier of restorative justice! Throughout the last year, LCJP has been intensely engaged in a strategic planning process to help set the vision for LCJP for the next 5 years. Through this process we identified a need make our training more available and accessible to our community as well as expand our program reach. Jess and Dana will be teaming up on this work together to further engage our community!
Jessica Goldberg, Training Institute Manager
From beginning as a volunteer in 2014 to leading LCJP’s Training Institute, I take great pride in the scope of involvement I’ve been able to have with LCJP these past 7 years. I’ve learned from all of the people I’ve had the privilege to work with and am excited to enter into a leadership role as the Training Institute Manager. We are envisioning how LCJP’s scaffolded approach to training in Restorative Practices can engage more of our Latinx community, LGBTQIA+, and youth. We’re also speaking with other communities who are organizing to create Restorative Justice access. I am especially motivated by our long-term plan to increase our capacity to share Restorative Practices by establishing a larger team of trainers. Just this summer, we’ve trained teachers, social workers, school resource officers and affordable housing organizations. Our emphasis right now is supporting reintegration (the 5th R!) in schools, families, workplaces and community.
Dana Henderson, Director of Community Programs
For 25 years, LCJP has been shaping a different type of justice: community restorative justice. We have centered the voices of impacted parties, community members and Law Enforcement to achieve community safety by upholding accountability and repair. With the continual growth of LCJP, I am now able to dedicate more energy and time to expanding access to our community restorative justice programs. Our focus will be developing innovative partnerships, inviting volunteer leadership, into the organization and remaining a responsive and engaged community partner.
I came to LCJP three years ago with inspiration to innovate and develop new uses of restorative practices. Beginning as a Case Coordinator, with a focus on developing officer engagement, I have been privileged to support a wider array of access points to restorative practices: digital Restorative Justice conferencing, restorative theatre for youth (Your Story, Your Power), Elevating Voices and additional training throughout the community.
